DevOps Engineer, OakNorth

Small and medium-size enterprises (SME) are one of the biggest drivers of growth and innovation in economies all over the world. Despite these companies being a powerful force in the economy, many SMEs find it difficult to raise capital during critical stages of their company growth.

Traditional commercial lending is optimised to make loans that are either too small to be effective or too large and expensive to be practical. At OakNorth, their mission is to help lenders fill this gap which they refer to as the “Missing Middle”.

They are building a SaaS platform called the Credit Intelligence Suite which transforms commercial lending by helping banks build deeper relationships with their clients and open new, more profitable opportunities while delivering credit decisions up to ten times faster than traditional models, with lower risk and greater efficiency.

They are now looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will have experience of infrastructure and release automation in a continuous integration/continuous delivery framework.

You will have a good practical knowledge of what works and what doesn’t and have exceptional judgement. You will work well with devs and client stakeholders to ensure mutually excellent outcomes. By the time you say a release is good to go, or infra is ready to ship for a client, it’s rock solid.

As a manager, you will be part of the client service team advising clients on transformational projects for their businesses and on delivering ongoing value to shareholders. You will be interfacing with client management (typically C-suite executives) and other professionals.

You will be assisting in coordinating client services and advice from other professional firms (e.g. lawyers and stockbrokers) and other internal specialists from Grant Thornton’s Deals and Consulting business and other advisory service lines.

If you enjoy working on a wide-reaching range of projects that will help businesses and communities flourish, you’ll fit right in. Your day-to-day role will include specific work streams and tasks relating to client deliverables covering a range of regulatory issues involving areas such as the AIM Rules for Companies, the Takeover Code and the Market Abuse Regulation.

Your role will also include leading and managing the delivery of marketing documentation, including pitch materials and client proposals. You will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the commercial objective of your work and how this fits into the overall project or client deliverable.
